I saw that but couldn’t link it.

And to think I didn’t have any vomit left..

Fortunately, I keep plenty of NYTimes around for the occasion!

    F-ing drive bys..

    Is anyone really surprised?

  4. wfish on September 3rd, 2008 at 10:48 am

An outstanding example of what “journalism” has become. Not much different from the Hou Chron/NY Times….just more blatant.

Fortunately most of the people who read that trash/rag of a magazine would have voted Dimwit anyway, if they vote at all. But it is this kind of stuff that should rally the conservatives and even some of the women voters out there. The conservative women will stand up and protest such treatment, let’s see if the Dimwit women take offense to this knock on women or what. I’m still waiting for N.O.W. to take a stand but I won’t be holding my breath on this one.

Somebody help me with just how this journalistic objectivity is suppossed to work.

I see this Cafferty guy on CNN, who is obviously a shill for the Democrats, then I see Sean Hannity who is, well, you know where he is as well. Yes, I know there are far less Hannity’s than Cafferty’s out there.

Is it just a matter of labels? “I am a journalist; I’m objective. I’m a commentator, I’m a shill for (fill in the blank).”

  7. jimb on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:02 am

Us Magazine isn’t a legitimate journalistic outlet. It’s a gossip rag.

Too bad people take the fluff pieces and pretty pictures within seriously.

#6. I read a book in college a very long time ago, called The Image, if I’m not mistaken. Aboout the only thing I remember is a comment in it about ignoring newspeople who interview newspeople about news. It will be useless.
Frankly, I have found this to be a truism regardless which side of the aisle the newspeople are on.

Unfortunately, gossip rags and main news press are becoming more
and more one and the same, often very difficult to tell them appart.
It appears true journalism is a thing of the past. Very hard to find in
    today’s msm..

So does anyone have suggestions for exactly HOW to share the truth with our friends? Because mine has bought everything the media says about Palin, hook line and sinker…she makes me mad with her ranting against Sarah and everything I say is only another nail in the coffin. :(

  11. GriffithLea on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:34 am

Aww, wook at the cute widdle baby…

    Sorry, what was the question?

  12. mrygill2 on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:38 am

Talk to anybody who knows or has worked with Sarah Palin, and they’ll tell you she’s a great gal.

Hubby’s brother & family lived in Anchorage a long time; they were active in the school board & have ENORMOUS respect for her.

Now, that doesn’t mean we always agree with her. She’s demonstrated either (1) great political cunning or (2) total absence of economic understanding in her efforts to force the routing of a gas pipeline south to Anchorage (where most Alaska voters live) instead of to Canada. It would be cheaper to import gas to Anchorage than pipe it there, but the voters want it.

That being said, I know she has outstanding values and character and can be trusted to make tough decisions in the nation’s best interest.

#10: I had a discussion with Dem friend of mine last night. I asked him specifically why someone should vote for Obama.

He immediately went to Bush bashing and the usual. I remained calm and stated that wasn’t the question. Give me specifics on why to vote for Obama.

This went on for some time, he changing subject, me bringing it back to the original question.

Needless to say there was no information forthcoming.

So in response to your question my answer is you can’t, because they don’t want to hear. Their mind is made up and not to be confused with facts.

  14. jimb on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:47 am

10 - anybody who is rabidly opposed to Palin’s VP nod is not someone you’ll be able to reason with about this particular subject.

The pro-abortion movement is foaming at the mouth about the woman. Our society has fallen a long way when the lfie of a child is less important than whatever “loss” a woman suffers when carrying the child to term.

  15. trl3 on September 3rd, 2008 at 12:22 pm

What did you expect from the marxist loving media that claim to be journalist?

  16. Big45Iron on September 3rd, 2008 at 12:38 pm

Meglet, just show your “friend” the election results from her elections as Mayor and as Governor, and her popularity ratings.

  17. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 12:38 pm

So according to Glenn Beck’s headline wars, who may the winner be in this one?

  18. RickG on September 3rd, 2008 at 12:49 pm

From their reactions, we are seeing who the honorable and decent Democrats and media types are, and who are the shameless and unprincipled jackasses.

  19. southerntragedy on September 3rd, 2008 at 12:55 pm

Meglet: Did you see Emme’s Glenn Beck comment on OC? That should help!

Kuddos to my favorite, young conservative, Meglet! :)

  20. Astrosmith on September 3rd, 2008 at 1:01 pm

    OK, a bit of analysis:

“BABIES, LIES, and SCANDAL”, says the headline.

BABIES: Well, there are definitely babies involved, little Trig there in the picture, and then Bristol’s baby which will arrive in a few months.

LIES: You mean like the lies that the liberal smear machine started spewing over the last few days? The ones about how Trig wasn’t Sarah’s, or about how Sarah caused his Downs by improper prenatal care? Or the other lies about conflict of interest because Mr. Palin used to work for the oil companies?

There’s a lot of lies here, but they’re not coming from the Palins or the McCain campaign.

SCANDAL: What scandal? You mean about Bristol being pregnant at 17, and about to marry the father? Well, whoop-dee-freaking-doo. There are a lot worse things than two high school seniors getting pregnant and having to marry young.

At least she isn’t killing the baby, like these liberals seem to want her to do, but don’t come out and say.

Well, like they say, one out of three ain’t bad.

  21. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 1:06 pm

    Facts to Share:

    (1) Money management: The Obama camp always forlorns the fact that Sarah Palin was GOVERNOR of the state of Alaska. They pounce unrelentlessly and exclusively of how she was a small town mayor, but NEVER mention her gubernatorial experience. Glenn Beck ran the numbers and I believe Michelle Malkin did the same (perhaps Glenn’s source). So while Obama’s campaign says they employ 2,500 people while Palin only 50 in Wasilla (sp?), as governor, Palin actually employed 7,000. While Obama(ites) say Mayor Palin’s budget was $12,000,000 / yr while the O. campaign spends that in a month, as governor, Palin oversaw a budget of over $1,000,000,000 /mo.

    (2) Change that happened: Obama preaches “change you can believe in” but Sarah Palin made changes that significantly impacted Alaskan politicians. She cut funds from the “Bridge to Nowhere” and altered a corrupted tax break for oil companies, resulting in the imprisonment of at least two legislators who took brides on that deal. It is well known B. Obama hung around crooks. How many of them are in jail because of B. obama’s change? What HAS he changed. My two examples mentioned above about how Palin DID accomplish are only two I know of. I’m sure there’s more. So while B. Obama speaks of a hope for change, with Palin we *KNOW* what’s changed under her leadership.

    (3) Experience: See # 2. There is NOTHING tougher for a politician to accomplish than to shake up a currupt establishment. What has B. Obama *DONE*? While Obama’s cumulative number of years in elected office may be greater than Palin’s, it would be well-worth researching how many days he’s NOT BEEN IN THE SENATE TO VOTE on any given issue. In other words, he may have a consistant record of “not being there” experience. Though the same might be made for McCain, I just don’t know.

    (4) Life: You may or may not have heard (wink, wink) that Sarah Palin’s oldest daughter is expecting a child. As of to date we know the daughter in question will marry the father and thus make the absolute best choice possible at this point in her life. Obama declared being pregnant as a “punishment” and supports terminating the life of that unborn child. Obama also vehemently fougt for doctors to starve to death post-birth, living babies after the abortion procedure on that baby was botched.

    I’m sure there’s more.

So does anyone have suggestions for exactly HOW to share the truth with our friends?

Meglet, I’m guessing that your friend probably isn’t too interested in the truth as it relates to Palin. Probably not much you can do for her. As for those interested in the truth I think the reaction from the Left and their media stooges will do all the work for you.

  23. GriffithLea on September 3rd, 2008 at 1:42 pm

#21 Took brides? Was that the imprisonment part? :)
“Change that HAPPENED” - what a great campaign slogan that would be.

  24. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 2:18 pm

    #23;

Yes, I believe three lawmakers admitted to having taken bribes in order to iron out the corrupt tax deal that benefitted the oil companies. At least two are in jail because of it AND because of Palin’s efforts to uproot the corruption.

Former state Representatives Pete Kott and Vic Kohring have been convicted taking bribes from oil company executives in Alaska. Using the oil profits tax passed in 2006, these politicians literally used their offices to steal money from the citizens of Alaska. Governor Sarah Palin would have none of it, and set to work to correct the problem and return that money to Alaskan residents

    Article written by Cary Wesberry.

Special kudos to “Landon” for making the source article known to us at patray.com.

Come to think of it, that WOULD be a great campaign slogan, eh?

  25. tedtam on September 3rd, 2008 at 3:08 pm

I love that “Change that happened” slogan. Send it to the campaign as a suggestion!

  26. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 3:19 pm

    #25;

    Who do I contact?

This is open-ended to all that reads. I’d love to send this into the McCain campaign.

  27. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 3:23 pm

    Listening to Glenn Beck now.

What a bafoon of a magazine US is.

    * Sarah’s hubby arrested on DUI happened at same time that B. Obama was snorting cocaine.

    * NO details of the seriousness of “Troopergate”. Some serious charges were brought up against the ex-brother-in-law Sarah wanted fired. One, a threat to her siser’s father’s life (being Sarah’s father as well), was verified.

    Palin ‘08.

  28. Meglet on September 3rd, 2008 at 3:27 pm

Most of you are right, I’ve decided she doesn’t care. After our last conversation about her it seems she’s ready to believe anything bad about Palin and disbelieve anything good about her. I’m giving up on that friend, she’s a hopeless case. :-P I am gonna have one more good go at her though for even entertaining the thought that baby Trig was Bristol’s and not Sarah’s. That’s just retarded.

  29. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 3:50 pm

    #28;

Just hang out with her and watch chick flix.

  30. Darren10 on September 3rd, 2008 at 3:54 pm

    From Drudge:

Although she has been in office less than a year, Palin, too, earns high marks from lawmakers on the other side of the aisle. During a debate earlier this year over a natural-gas bill, State Senate Minority Leader Beth Kerttula was astounded when she and another Democrat went to see the new governor to lay out their objections. “Not only did we get right in to see her,” says Kerttula, “but she asked us back twice—we saw her three times in 10 hours, until we came up with a solution.” Next week in Juneau, Alaska lawmakers will meet to overhaul the state’s system for taxing oil companies—a task Palin says was tainted last year by an oil-industry lobbyist who pleaded guilty to bribing lawmakers. Kerttula doesn’t expect to agree with the freshman governor on every step of the complex undertaking. But the minority leader looks forward to exploiting one backroom advantage she’s long waited for. “I finally get to go to the restroom and talk business with the governor,” she says. “The guys have been doing this for centuries.” And who says that’s not progress?

    Newsweek praised Palin’s leadership!!!
