no doubt Obama’s far worse than McCain; but can McCain authentically condemn Obama for having any socialitic tendencies? After all MCcain wants the Treasurey to buy up a bunch of “bad mortgages”.

I’m telling you, the stuff about “BO”s past is coming out. That’s why you never see a resume of what benefial experiences “BO” has that qualifies him to be President of the United States. If “BO” wants to call it “swift boating” then so be it, as long as it brings him down. As in John “flip/flop? Kerry’s case, the truth hurts.

  3. Shannon on October 9th, 2008 at 12:31 pm

but can McCain authentically condemn Obama for having any socialistic tendencies?

    No.

But I’m really confident McCain won’t invite terrorists to stay overnight in the Lincoln Bedroom.

McCain’s camp needs to jump on this stuff like yesterday!

    Good work Shannon.

Here is my simple take on this story.
    1. Obama in his own book said he chose his friends wisely in college and then listed Marxist Professors as someone he carefully chose to hang around.

    2. He supports a Marxist first cousin in Kenya. There are videos out there on Youtube of him supporting this guy “Raila Odinga.” His cousin allows Sharia law in his country for Muslims.

    3. He is friends with a Marxist named William Ayers who as recently as last year said he is not sorry for what he has done in the past. William served on boards with Obama and one of Obama’s campaign people said that BO’s career was launched in Ayers house.

    4. I heard this morning and have not had time to confirm, Michelle Obama worked at the same law firm with William Ayers Wife. They are clearly more than just neighbors if this is true.

To me this just shows a pattern. The man is a Marxist. He hangs out with a known terrorist and does not deny it. He chooses to surround himself with people that believe in Marxism. What more evidence does one need?

I can’t hang around extreme liberals more than an hour or so before I want to scream when talking about politics. Ayers helped BO kick off his political career, its impossible to believe that a man would help you start your political career and neither of you ever discussed your political beliefs.

I wonder what the media would do if we found out that McCain started his political career in the house of Timothy McVeigh. I bet they would be howling from the roof tops.

  6. Darren10 on October 9th, 2008 at 1:06 pm

    Shannon;

    Point for you.

The McCain campaign could counter with that one.

  7. wfish on October 9th, 2008 at 1:17 pm

Unfortuntantely, no one seems to care. He is the “anointed one” and
can not be held responsible and/or associated with anything that smells of corruption, dishonesty or anti-Americanism. The stories are there, the news people are not interested and the kool-ade drinking fanatics can’t be bothered by the facts. McCain isn’t helping and Sarah can’t do it alone. I fear we’re in real trouble.
    .

  8. Darren10 on October 9th, 2008 at 1:41 pm

The McCain campaign plane is better than Obama’s, which is cramped, uncomfortable and smells terrible most of the time. Somehow the McCain folks manage to keep their charter clean, even where the press is seated.

Haven’t we been saying, BEFORE the news revelations of Obama’s evil ties that something smells bad about his campaign?

#7 I fear you are right. No one cares. A store owner told me today, his street in Cinco Ranch is lined with Obama/Biden signs. These people used to vote Republican, or so he says.

  10. Custer Rushmore on October 9th, 2008 at 3:23 pm

I see lots of McCain/Palin signs in my neighborhood and yard. Haven’t seen a single BO sign.

Don’t worry, Character Matters. The MSM can’t remove the doubts about BO’s character. The MSM can’t give BO more experience. The MSM won’t make BO answer any important questions. The MSM can’t make the financial worries go away in time. They can’t reinvent Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Barney Rubble into moderates. The MSM can’t make Ayres, Wright and any of Barry’s other friends go away.

They will continue to protect their candidate and then blame everyone else when he loses.

I do have a question that I really don’t know the answer to. Which candidate supports Boone Pickens plan for energy independence? Both? Neither? Just wondering.

  11. Shannon on October 9th, 2008 at 3:44 pm

  14. antifascist on October 9th, 2008 at 5:21 pm

    hey patriots, consider this:
if BO wins, even without a veto-proof majority in the house and senate - which he may well have, he will inherent a supercharged presidency loaded with enhanced executive powers… lopsided to the presidency (executive) and away from the legislative and judicial.

Consider all the goodies (and more) that Cheney/Rove/Ashcroft/Addington/Gonzales cooked up:

—–Secret Domestic espionage program (with no Congressional oversight, overseen by the Attorney general and the Director of the NSA)

    —–warrantless wiretapping of Americans

    —–phone and internet data-mining

—–national security letters demanding library records

(these examples, and more, in the wrong hands, could be dangerous and permanant campaign apparatus, power preservers and democracy destroyers)

PERHAPS OBAMA WILL GIVE ALL THOSE POWERS BACK…

If you can’t stomach that for BO, or any non-GOP president, you shouldn’t have allowed Bushco to establish it…

As for socialism, do you think BO would nationalize any industry? really… quick, which one? -Gotcha

Look at how Bushco has nationalized the most toxic and worthless portions of banks and mortgage lending (led by GOPers Paulson and Bush)… could BO be worse than that?

As for the Ayers stuff… why is that not water under the bridge? That was during wartime (a civil war) 40 years ago what Ayers did… He’s earned back the trust of his country… for example, he has been allowed to thrive for many years as a distinguished Professor at a state University in Illinois (UIC). He’s earned many awards for his post radical professional life. Should these institutions be punished for associating with him?

2005-6 - Randolph Distinguished Visitng Professor, Vassar College

2005 - Distinguished Scholar, McKissick Museum of Education, University of South Carolina

2003 - Visiting Scholar, Lesley University

1999 - Distinguished Professor of Education

    1997 - Senior University Scholar

1996 - Doctor of Humane Letters (Honorary), Nazareth College

1996 - Champion of the Public Interest, Business and Professional People for the Public Interest

1993 - Book of the Year, Kappa Delta Pi, for “To Teach” (Teachers College Press)

Those institutions have more association than BO and Ayers (from Wiki)

Bill Ayers and Barack Obama at one time lived in the same neighborhood in the city of Chicago, and both had worked on education reform in the state of Illinois. The two met “at a luncheon meeting about school reform.”[41] Obama was named to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Project Board of Directors to oversee the distribution of grants in Chicago. Later in 1995, Ayers hosted “a coffee” for “Mr. Obama’s first run for office.”[42] The two served on the board of a community anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 2000 and 2002, during which time the board met twelve times.[42] In April 2001, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama’s re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate.[41] Since 2002, there has been little linking Obama and Ayers.[42] The senator said in September 2008 that he hadn’t “seen him in a year-and-a-half.”[43] In February 2008, Obama spokesman Bill Burton released a statement from the senator about the relationship between the two: “Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous.”[41] CNN’s review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the non-profit projects in which the two men were involved.[44] Internal reviews by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, The Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The New Republic “have said that their reporting doesn’t support the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship”.[45]

Mayor Daley of Chicago used him as an advisor on education… It’s not like he is a cave-dwelling, fugitive jihadist…

Our country moves on: Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Russia, Vietnam all in recent history have attacked and harmed the US, but they are now close friends now… Japan (remember Pearl Harbor?)… China (remember the Chosin Reservoir or the recent US spy plane they shot down?)… Germany (D-Day anyone? The Battle of Britain -texpat-?) Vietnam (captured and turtured McCain?)

    March 29, 2005
The USS Gary arrived in the port of Saigon, marking the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam. The first U.S. naval ship visited Vietnam in November, 2003 and the second in July, 2004. The visits are expected to become annual.

Leading US companies on Vietnam visit
    09:56′ 04/05/2007 (GMT+7)
VietNamNet Bridge - Around 30 senior managers from 18 leading US companies have began a three-day visit to Vietnam to seek investment opportunities.

The group is the biggest US delegation to visit the country since Washington lawmakers approved permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) with Vietnam and the nation’s accession into the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in January.

The delegation, which includes representatives from Boeing, Chevron, Time Warner, Hewlett Packard and General Electric, is taking part in the “Vietnam - a bright future for US businesses” forum in Ha Noi, which is co-organised by the US-ASEAN Trade Council and the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry.

Japan and China (Communist China) now own 42% of the US treasury… Wars end, time heals, people change… If the USA can move on, why can’t its citizens? enough with the Ayers crap already, ssheeeshh…

Because he’s an admitted terrorist who is proud of the fact that he got away with it. At the very least, he should be ostracized from society. At most, he should be on death row.

Domesic terrorism cannot be considered “water under the bridge”. It isn’t like he embezzled 50 grand and did his time or something.

How about - the banking and thrift industry (albeit with the unwitting help of some witless Republicans)

    - the healthcare industry - wasn’t it the other night when he said that health care was a “right”?

    - the media industry - wanna bet we see a quick return of the “fairness doctrine”?

    - the defense industry - whatever’s left after he decimates the DoD.

    - the energy industry - Maxine Waters already wants to nationalize all of the oil companies, if you’re gonna do that why stop there?

    - the Automakers - so we can make “greener cars”

It seems [anti-fascist] does not care that Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn, Barack Obama’s original fundraisers, are unrepentant, bloodthirsty terrorists who led an organization that declared war against the United States and attempted to carry out the largest terrorist attack in American history.

When did Obamas learn of Ayer’s bombings and did he call them despicable “to [his] face”?

Bush is a worthless pile of leadership ineptness and leans liberal many times. Thus his getting caught up in this governent bailout support.

Japan is our alley because we destroyed them and then helped them rebuild themselves. Germany is our alley because we destroyed them and helped them rebuild them selves. South Korea is our alley because we retained a decisive military vctory there and helped build that country.

China? Still a threat to us. Don’t care at all for open trade with them. Were I President I would not prohibit trade w/ China but I’d be very firm with them and their civil rights abuses. I’d also support plans to deliberalize our industries to help bring business back home to the states from China.

    About fascism:

Missouri Prosecutors, Sheriffs ‘Target Anyone Who Lies’ About Barack Obama

A St. Louis television station reports — their words — “The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.”

Prosecutors and sheriffs from across Missouri are joining “The Barack Obama Truth Squad.”

They mention Jennifer Joyce, St. Louis Circuit Attorney and Bob McCullough, prosecutor for St. Louis County in Missouri.

The reporter says, “They will be reminding voters that Barack Obama is a Christian who wants to cut taxes for anyone making less than $250,000 a year.”

While the report never quite comes out and says that anyone running an ad saying those things would be subject to prosecution, that certainly is the message implied.

I also recall John Kerry’s legal threats upon airing a documentary attacking his military past.

Shutting up the opposition does not seem to come from the political right .

And if liberals are true to their opposition to wireless taps, than Obama should ban them as President. Nothing to worry about, right?

    My clown research has found:

Sen. Barack Obama designated a personal aide as his direct contact for the 2007 Kenyan presidential campaign of Raila Odinga, who later was appointed prime minister after his election loss was followed by widespread, deadly violence that destroyed or damaged 800 Christian churches, according to e-mails obtained by WND senior staff writer Jerry Corsi during a trip to Kenya.

The links between Obama and Odinga were documented by copies of two e-mails obtained by Corsi during his meetings in Kenya with various government officials and others.

The e-mails, apparently sent by Obama himself, regarded the senator’s aide, Mark Lippert. The e-mails were provided to WND by an insider in Kenya who fled Odinga’s Orange Democratic political party and requested anonymity because of the danger of retaliation.

One e-mail purportedly from Obama, dated Dec. 22, 2006, read, “I will kindly wish that all our correspondence [be] handled by Mr Mark Lippert. I have already instructed him. This will be for my own security both for now and in future.”

The copy of the email is titled “Hello Brother”.

To the pains of some here. Here’s the link.

Who knows, the emails could be a fake.

    Sincerely,

    The rest of the country

  57. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 12:01 am

    Frank from OZ;

As for the self described clown Darren10, you had your chance to fire Bush three years ago, but I’ll bet you a lone star beer that you voted to re-hire him.

Yes, I did. and I don’t drink beer so I won’t buy you one neither.

I wasn’t about to hire Kerry in place of Bush. And this was pre-Immigration Reform, pre Ramos and Compean, pre-socialization of our economy.

Thanks for the hand. I need it. and since you brough it up, you needed to provide it. i’m not going to do leg work for you. I’ll let you stand behind the curtain and let the fearsome hollogram you create to scare and intimidate Texan clowns.

You didn’t answer the important questions.

    (a) Is [Annenburg] a close friend of McCain?

As per your update, I’ll say NO, since he’s well, dead. And his wife endorsed McCain which made your statement:

And by the way, do any of you ignoramuses know that the guy funding all the charity work that Obama was doing with Ayers was a Republican that is endorsing McCain?

factually incorrect. This also severs all ties to McCain as a third party, hiw wife, is endorsing McCain, not the dead man. In fact, in Chicago, dead people vote Democrat. Keeps the Dailys in office. We clowns are perceptive you know Great Wizard?

So a little modification is in order. Let’s go with the altered question as follows:

    (a) Are any of the Republicans close friends of McCain? We pathetic clowns are not looking for any corrupt Democrat who endorses Mccain. Just a specific one who was a close friend of Obama’s.

    (b) Is there a politician in Chicago NOT corrupt? Shall we pull funds form any and all charity work they might be involved with?

I grew up just outside of Chicago and I cannot think of one. Please restore my faith in Chicago politics and point to me a non-corrupt Chicago politician.

    (c) Are there ay clowns in you neck of the woods?

This is the most important question of all. Please answer.

    Let me add

    (d) What kind of clowning around have you done in your life? Did it make people happier or sadder? (I know the grammar error, this time it’s intentional).

Wait, as per the great scholarly name calling you’ve made here, that question “d” should read “What kind of pathetic clowning around have you done in your life? Did it make people happier or sadder?”

    Yours truly;

    Darren10, Pathetic Clown from Texas

  58. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 12:07 am

    #56;

That’s an option to keep on the table. Code word will be “wolverine”. But first Texans will strive to succeed before secede.

(Todd Palin won’t show us how cuz he has no desire to secede).

You get more out of SSI than you pay in, bone-head. That’s the problem.

Now it’s clown pathetic bone head. Put one cent into your own 401K, even in this economic calamity brought by lack of Republican leadership to counter the liberal push for economic equality. If you do, you hae an infinite amount more in that 401K plan than you do in Social Security.

  59. Big45Iron on October 10th, 2008 at 2:19 am

Darren - I just computed what I would have if I’d have the entire 15% to invest over my working career - just shy of $1 million. Now keep in mind those first 11 years as a Marine I didn’t make all that much. So I’d guess most people would have even more. Social Security’s rate of return is only

http dubya dubya dubya dot heritage.org/Research/SocialSecurity/CDA98-01 dot cfm

Social Security’s inflation-adjusted rate of return is only 1.23 percent for an average household of two 30-year-old earners with children in which each parent made just under $26,000 in 1996.1 Such couples will pay a total of about $320,000 in Social Security taxes over their lifetime (including employer payments) and can expect to receive benefits of about $450,000 (in 1997 dollars, before applicable taxes) after retiring at age 67, the retirement age when they are eligible for full Social Security Old-Age benefits.

Had they placed that same amount of lifetime employee and employer tax contributions into conservative tax-deferred IRA-type investments-such as a mutual fund composed of 50 percent U.S. government Treasury bills and 50 percent equities-they could expect a real rate of return of over 5 percent per year prior to the payment of taxes after retirement. In this latter case, the total amount of income accumulated by retirement would equal approximately $975,000 (in 1997 dollars, before applicable taxes).

Now consider that most companies I have worked for match from 25% to 50% up to 6% of contributions for 401Ks. So that would make an average savings of 7.5% to 9% just putting it into a completely safe government bond fund. But in reality, I’ve contributed up to 12%, plus what my employer has put in, and by watching how the funds work, I’ve averaged around 18% over the last 20 years. Now they do still take my SS money out too Frank. But as you can see Frank SS is a totally useless fund, and it’s not worth anything since Lyndon Johnson and the Dems put it into the general fund and borrowed against it.

So really Frank, your premise, shall we say, STUPID? If we had been allowed to invest that 15%, we would have far more in savings that the Federal government would pay us, and on top of that, the Fed govt wouldn’t have that debt owing. Do you see how that makes sense Frank, or are you still stuck on stupid?

Oh, and I think most Texans would secede if they could. We’d keep our oil and the refineries that turn it into useful products and actually make you pay for what it really costs to produce it. Of course you could choose to live your life without petroleum products, but that would reduce you to a naked savage running in the woods and only eating dead roots. You couldn’t make a fire because of global warming, and you couldn’t kill animals because PETA would get you….so there you’d be. Cold, naked, hungry. And still stuck on stupid.

  60. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 8:29 am

    BigIron;

Frank was right. You made a very compelling argument against Social Security and used math skills far beyond what I used to back up your argument and, you’re not from Texas. I’m just a pathetic bone head clown whereas you’re smart (and Frank is still running OZ).

You want to take George W. away from us?

  61. Gritsforbreakfast on October 10th, 2008 at 9:42 am

With all the crowing about Obama and Bill Ayers the terrorist, don’t look now, but Sarah Palin’s husband was previously an active member of the Alaska Independence Party, “a group whose founder’s body was found after a plastic explosives sale gone bad,” and who claimed to have “no use for America or her damned institutions.”

Even better, Salon says of the party founder who died in the explosives transaction, his:

greatest moment of glory was to be his 1993 appearance before the United Nations to denounce United States “tyranny” before the entire world and to demand Alaska’s freedom. The Alaska secessionist had persuaded the government of Iran to sponsor his anti-American harangue.

Sponsorship by Iran. Damning American institutions. Trafficking in plastic explosives. Palin’s hubby sounds like he’s been “palling around” with some pretty unsavory characters himself!

But I’m sure y’all can explain how that’s completely different from Ayers and Obama. Right?

  62. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 9:58 am

DELETED BY LST MODNS WHO NOTES THIS IS VERY MUCH OUT OF CHARACTER FOR YOU DARREN

  63. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 9:59 am

    peeforbreakfast;

This patheticboneheadclown will ask you what he has asked, without response the Great Wizard of OZ.

Were any of these folks close friends with Todd Palin?

I’ll even ask, is this what attracted him to this party?

If there is any traction to this, you’ll see Hannity back off very quickly on the Ayers story.

    Go enjoy some more pee.

  64. Gritsforbreakfast on October 10th, 2008 at 10:08 am

There’s no evidence to my knowledge Obama and Ayers were “close friends.” They’d served on a board together and Ayers threw him a fundraiser.

For that matter, the Alaska Independence Party is pretty small; Palin was Mayor while hubby was still involved, so I’m sure they were high up the food chain.

Besides all y’all are doing is taking minimalist associations and smearing Obama with them - what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. There’s as much “traction” to this as there is to the Ayers crap - none of it’s relevant, all of it’s a diversion from more important concerns.

Finally, Darren, the “pee” comment says a lot more about you, amigo, than it does me, and nothing positive. Grow up.

  65. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 11:20 am

    soggycheeriosforbreakfast;

This is to all as well but you get honors of calling attention to yourself.

Did Todd Palin join the Alaskan Independence Party because of the bombings or because of their own platform? I’ll put my comments in bold.

    Platform and Goal
    of the
    Alaskan Independence Party

    Preamble
We affirm that all political power is inherent in the people; that all government originates with the people, is founded on their will only, is instituted to protect the rights of the individual; that all persons have a natural right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and the enjoyment of the rewards of their own industry; that all persons are equal and entitled to equal protection under the law. We stand on a firm constitutional foundation.

Soundsl ike the Declaration of Independence. Therefore, I like it.

    Platform
We pledge to exert our best efforts to accomplish the following:

To effect full compliance with the constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Alaska.

Shouldn’t all states do this? Do not states have inherited constitutional sovereignty from the federal government to affectively pursue this goal?

To support and defend States’ Rights, Individual Rights, Property Rights, and the Equal Footing Doctrine as guaranteed by the constitutions of the United States of America and the state of Alaska.

Life, liberty, and property? Aren’t those inherent in a free, democratic society? What’s the problem?

To advocate the convening of a State Constitutional Convention at the constitutionally designated 10 year interval.

If it’s in their constitution, than why do it? Don’t like it, amend it.

To reinforce the unalienable rights endowed by our Creator to Alaska law, by eliminating the use of the word “privilege” in the Alaska statutes.

    Now this is good.

To amend the Constitution of the State of Alaska so as to re-establish the rights of all Alaskan residents to entry upon all public lands within the state, and to acquire private property interest there in, under fair and reasonable conditions. Such property interest shall include surface and sub-surface patent.

Too complicated on thesurface for me to understand this fully. Instictively though, it seems good.

To foster a constitutional amendment abolishing and prohibiting all property taxes.

Isn’t state Senator Dan Patrick effectively promoting the same thing for Texas? I fully and unconditionally support ending ALL direct taxes on the people in all states of the United States of America.

To seek the complete repatriation of the public lands, held by the federal government, to the state and people of Alaska in conformance with Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17, of the federal constitution.

I’ve no idea what Article I, Section 8, Clause 17, of the federal constitutin says; but if it’s in there, why not use it?

To prohibit all bureaucratic regulations and judicial rulings purporting to have the effect of law, except that which shall be approved by the elected legislature.

Now I’m in political heaven. I could not agree more.

To preserve and protect the Alaska Permanent Fund, Permanent fund earnings, earnings reserve fund and individual Permanent Fund Dividends.

    ?

To provide for the direct popular election of the attorney general, all judges, and magistrates.

now we’re talking. Hold these people, especially judges, accountable directly to the people. They make up laws, they’ll have to defend that decision before the people.

To provide for the development of unrestricted, statewide, surface transportation and utility corridors as needed by the public or any individual.

    Infastructure development?

To affirm and assert every possible right-of-way established under R.S. 2477 of July 26, 1866, before its repeal by the Federal Land Management Policy Act of October 21, 1976.

Taking back what the federal governent took from them is the type of federalist smackdown we currently need.

To support the right of the individual to keep and bear arms.

    No argument here.

To support the complete abolition of the concept of sovereign or governmental immunity, so as to restore accountability for public servants.

the whole country can use this. Especially Paulsen.

To support the rights of parents to privately or home school their children.

Restoring responsibility to educate children upon the parents is always good. also, having this in law will help us not become Germany who apparently do not like home schooling parents. Think them psychotic they do. Californian judges do too

To support the privatization of government services.

Unload government burden? Me thinks this is good.

To oppose the borrowing of money by government for any purposes other than for capital improvements.

This, combined with restricting government taking money directly from its people, can be a powerful force in reducing governmet spending.

To strengthen the traditional family and support individual accountability without government interference or regulation.

    Ditto.

To support the right of jurors to judge the law as well as the facts, according to their conscience.

I might disagree a bit here. The law is the law and should be applied across the board.

    To support “Jobs for Alaskans…First!”

    Who’d oppose that?

Overall the Alaskan Independent Party’s platform seem astonishing wonderful. I back up Sarah Palin’s words to them COLLECTIVELY, not to their terrorist founder, but to ALL of them *as a party*, God bless them. They have a sound mind and a clear path to ensure freedom. They seem to stand for reducing government and restoring accountability to where it belongs. Conservatives fight for very similar things.

Soggy Cheerios are obviously not brain food, nor character enhancers. So to all liberals who like to tie Todd Palin to seceding whackos (at times I’m temtped to advocate secession myself), please join gritsforbeakfast for breakfast at his house. He’ll dish you all out soggy Cheerios your heart can desire. But before posting anti-Todd Palin rants, please connect how Todd wants to secede from the Union and has close friends who were terrorists.

I may be setting myself up dfor my own smackdown as I only read the platform page of the Alaskan Independence Party. There may be some very crazy, violent stuff on other pages from their website. If you find any, please post them here so I can alter my opinion of Todd and Sarah Palin.

  66. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 11:30 am

No doubt I have room to grow.

But Obama worked with Ayers for years. Their relationship seems pretty close. How much a working relationship did Todd Palin have with Vogler? Did Todd like the party, or Vogler? what’s the connection?

My immature self-reflection was purposely done to reflect the imaturity of equating Todd and Sarah Palin to Obamas and Ayers. Frank tried to do the same thing here. I still don’t see it. How are the two relationships synonimous?

  67. Gritsforbreakfast on October 10th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

Darren asks: “Did Todd Palin join the Alaskan Independence Party because of the bombings”

Hard to say. What we do know is he didn’t mind “palling around” with those who think such behavior is fine and dandy. What other conclusion can one reach? You can’t put enough lipstick on a pitbull, pig, or any other animal to cover up that fundamental truth. Palin’s husband remained in the group many years after those radical (in Palin’s words re Ayers, “terrorist”) inclinations were exposed. By contrast it’s not like Obama or Michelle ever JOINED the Weather Underground, whose tactics Ayers himself had years before denounced.

It’s a BS angle when you run it against Obama, but when you refuse to apply the same standard to your own folks it just becomes hypocritical and sad.

  68. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 1:35 pm

I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”…

He writes that he participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, the Pentagon in 1972. But Mr. Ayers also seems to want to have it both ways, taking responsibility for daring acts in his youth, then deflecting it.

”Is this, then, the truth?,” he writes. ”Not exactly. Although it feels entirely honest to me.”

But why would someone want to read a memoir parts of which are admittedly not true? Mr. Ayers was asked.

”Obviously, the point is it’s a reflection on memory,” he answered. ”It’s true as I remember it.”

So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he is asked? ”I don’t want to discount the possibility,” he said.

Hey, I liked that part. Let me repaste it:

So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he is asked? ”I don’t want to discount the possibility,” he said.

    Article

    Grits;

So by Ayers later denounced his bombing tactis, how, exactly did he denounce them?

And it’s not like Todd Palin joined the AIP because they were founded by a terorist. And Todd Palin did not join that party, nor did Sarah start her political career, in Vogler’s home. Heck did she shout out your condemned “God bless you” praise to them in Vogler’s home? If she did, I’d say there’s a legitimate concern to look into as that’s an indicator that he’s not just an aquaintance; but something closer.

The relationships between the Palins and their aquaintances does not compare with Obama and his. They contrast each other. In a Venn diagram the Palin / Obama connections to their respective aquaintances would be placed on the out rims of the two circles, not in the middle where they share similarities.

By your logic grits, I’d support socialism because I’m a registered Republican. But is socialism in the Republican platform? If you cannot connect the dots between Todd and Sarah Palin with Vogler, than drop the topic. Obama on the other hand, began his political career in Ayers home and was appointed to preside over an organization Ayers founded/closely worked in. I’d say that’s a legitimate reason for concern and legitimate to look into.

I provided very good reasons for Todd Palin to be attracted to the AIP. I even expressed my strong support for what they officially stand for. I even strongly share some of those official values. So why immediately tie Todd to Vogler? Where’s THAT connection?

Darren asks: “Did Todd Palin join the Alaskan Independence Party because of the bombings”

Hard to say. What we do know is he didn’t mind “palling around” with those who think such behavior is fine and dandy.

Like who? Who do we “know” he liked to pal around with that liked to bomb buildings. We do “know” Ayers liked it AND will not discount doing it again.

So I say once again, how do the dots connect?

  69. Darren10 on October 10th, 2008 at 2:24 pm

    Grits;

It’s a BS angle when you run it against Obama, but when you refuse to apply the same standard to your own folks it just becomes hypocritical and sad.

You ever concidered forming an alliance with headshaker?

  70. Gritsforbreakfast on October 10th, 2008 at 6:16 pm

Darren, if this thread continues long enough you’ll find a third side of your mouth to talk out of!

Whining about culture war crap like this instead of the issues people care about is why the GOP will lose this election, plain and simple. Since denial is the first stage of grief, I assume you already know that and that must explain your inability to see how most people would find Mrs. Palin’s critiques of Ayers hypocritical upon learning about her husband’s affiliations.

AFTER the Alaska Independence Party became publicly known as terror-mongers bent on violence, Palin continued to be involved for years and I’m sure answers to your questions about the details of his involvement and who he consorted will continue to emerge, especially as long as folks like you remain in this level of denial.

  71. BigJolly on October 10th, 2008 at 7:04 pm

Hey, gritsy, you gonna be in H-town next week? Hammie and I are gonna meet at Stag’s.

  72. BigJolly on October 10th, 2008 at 7:22 pm

And gritsy, you have my email. Wish you wouldn’t have done what you did but hey, I’m a forgiving soul.

  73. Darren10 on October 11th, 2008 at 1:08 am

Moderators. My sincere apologies. There are times I get worked up. No excuse, just noting my reality. A weakness I’ve always needed to improve. Thanks for being on the ball and giving me the feedback. To be honest, I’m surprised more of my comments were not deleted. Starting with Frank, I was in contentious combat mode, that took a tubo, no nitrogen boost downward after reading grit’s post. Recalling his pure cynicism towards the Palin choice and then injecting her husband into the argument put that contentious spirit I previously unleashed into hyperdrive. Your feedback helped break me out of that.

    Grits;

The LST Moderator’s note to me/all gave me cause to calm down and tone down this reply. I’m re-writing it as we speak. I’ll attempt to adress my concerns with your posts.

Since denial is the first stage of grief, I assume you already know that and that must explain your inability to see how most people would find Mrs. Palin’s critiques of Ayers hypocritical upon learning about her husband’s affiliations.

With all due respect, you’ve misdiagnosed me. What happened is that I took great offense with your equating Todd and Sarah Palin to Barack Obama. Further indignating is your portrait of a repentant Ayers, saying “he later denounced” his bombing years. I used his own words to show he’s denounced nothing. In his own words he said he would not discount bombing America again. And after challenging you to connect the dots you still did not connect anything other than to attempt to say that after the Alaskan Independence Party became known for terror, Todd Palin continued his active involvment in it. You yourself said the details of his involvement will come out. Believe me, if I find inappropriateness in his involvement, I’ll be quick to point it out. And it would show yet again a great bumbling error in part of McCain. That would also vindicate your long-standing position that Palin was not a wise choice in part because there is a lot of unknowns about her. If that’s the end, than I probably will buy you a beer. In fact if I get burned on this deal I honestly cannot see myself voting Republican for President for a very long time.

But I’ll also point out that Todd Palin is running for no office. He’s not the sentral figure. In fact, he’s no figure in this race. His support from what I can tell is behind the scenes management. But you and I agree completely that attack ads are very ineffective when they are not backed up by providing a better choice. Well, so far McCain’s managed to out socialize Obama in campaign promises regarding fixing the economy. Disregarding anything from their websites, their histories, etc. and judging strictly what they have provided as their economic solutions, McCain wants the goverment more involved in the private maket than does Obama. Not as a regulator; but as a banker. AND HE’S THE REPUBLICAN!!!

AFTER the Alaska Independence Party became publicly known as terror-mongers bent on violence, Palin continued to be involved for years

I ask was the party collectively in support of terror or it’s founder? And what is Todd Palin’s association with its founder? What “palling around” do you/we “know” about Todd Palin? I have seen none and still see none. Yes, the future may reveal questionable palling arounds but as of yet we “now” of none. But I regress on this redundancy. I’ve already addresed this previously.

I’ve also provided what I think is a sound reason people like Todd and Sarah Palin would be attracted to. Even I enthusiatically endorse everything in their official platform. Some of their positions I extremely and enthusiatically support. Why wouldn’t a conservative NOT likethe ideas of a state taking back lands taken from the federal government? Why would he not like a clear position opposing judges who create laws from bench? What conservative wuld not be attracted to returning responsibility, at least more of it, of education to the parents of the respective students? …

[PAUSE: just rereading my humbling experience in #62. I think I'm doing much better now]

…And here’s where I see where your logic breaks down significantly. I’m a registered Republican. If anybody reads a sizable portion of my posts on this very blog site, there’s no way they would conclude that I’m a socialist. Well, as where things stand right now, the leaders of the Republican Party are socialists. Already being on the brink of wanting to vote third party, this has not helped. But suppose I remain a Registered Republican “for years” after today. How is my simply being a Republican make be favorable to socialism? It doesn’t. And all you have pointed out is that Todd Palin was an active member of AIP and that Sarah Palin told them “God bless you”.

Obama’s connection to William Ayers is another story. The Weather Underground from my understanding was anti-white and anti-capitalist. Combine that with Obama’s socialism (dam* you McCain!!!), Rev. Wright, and Michelle, stating ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL, that she has never been proud of America in her adult life than now, and you see a harmony between the two. Correct me if I’m wrong but Obama began his political career in Ayers home. Obama also held prestigious positions (perhaps that should be singular) working with Ayers and that’s reason to see something more than just aquaintances. It’s far more intimate, or at least it’s very reasonable to suspect it’s far more intimate, than just aquaintances. Personally, I’d like to know more. Likewise, since you’ve broughtt the topic up, I’d like to know more about Todd Palin. Denial is not a factor here. It’s wanting to know more.

OK. I’m very tired now. Perhaps more later.

Enjoy your time in H-Town (yo!!!) with Big Jolly and hammie. I mean that sincerely.

    And out of curiosity:

Darren, if this thread continues long enough you’ll find a third side of your mouth to talk out of!

I don’t know what you mean. Please clarify.

Much better, eh moderators? I feel better about it too. In fact it’s so good I’m sure Big Jolly will slam one more down at Stag’s just for me. Keep up the stellar job.

  74. Gritsforbreakfast on October 11th, 2008 at 7:07 am

Jolly, thanks for the invite, I’ll find your email and holler at you offline.

Darren, I’m not nearly as invested in this as you so I’m not going to do a lot of extra research or go learn about Bill Ayers (who neither I nor the American public know or care much about). You waste your time that way if you want to. I’ve pointed you to credible coverage that indicates Todd Palin was a member of a group whose leadership has been sponsored by Iran, trafficked in illegal plastic explosives, and publicly “damns” America and its institutions. If you don’t think the American people will see that as just as damning as anything you can say about Obama’s relationship to something Bill Ayers did four decades ago, you’re kidding yourself and I don’t have time nor energy to participate in your self delusion.

I can tell you if I belonged to a group who sought Iranian sponsorship to speak to the UN and whose founder and original leader was caught trafficking in plastique, I would leave that group. And I certainly would not join an organization after they’d been associated with that kind extremist terror-mongering. Clearly Todd Palin wasn’t so prudent.

The hairs you’re dying to split about Mrs. Palin may all be split equally for the Obamas, much more so since they were never involved with the Weathermen and had nothing to do with Bill Ayers’ 40-year old crimes. The truth is the Culture War crowd has been running a BS attack on Obama about Ayers and now it turns out Sarah Palin has been extremely hypocritical to do so.

  75. squawkbox on October 11th, 2008 at 10:18 am

    Wow Gritsy

Ayers association with Obamarama does not matter to you, yet you are versed in the associations of Todd Palin. Good for the goose but not the gander?

  76. Darren10 on October 11th, 2008 at 1:38 pm

Enough wth calling Obama a foul animal. He’s a human being. ;)

  77. Darren10 on October 11th, 2008 at 1:52 pm

I can tell you if I belonged to a group who sought Iranian sponsorship to speak to the UN and whose founder and original leader was caught trafficking in plastique

George W. has allowed Ahmandinejhad to speak at the United Nincompoops (Chavez too) and it was local officials that prevented him from going to ground zero; not the Republican President. The Republican President also agree w/ Russia to provide Iran with enriched uranium. So I guess as a regiserted Republican I support Iran. There’s no logic. I did not register as a Republican in George W.’s house, nor has George W. promoted me in any organization he is involved with.

I can tell you if I belonged to a group who sought Iranian sponsorship to speak to the UN and whose founder and original leader was caught trafficking in plastique, I would leave that group.

I would too. Are you a Republican? If so, I’ll go ahead and conclude that you’re a socialist who likes to sponsor dictators to speak their venom in the country your leader swore to protect.

And I certainly would not join an organization after they’d been associated with that kind extremist terror-mongering.

In other words you’d stay away from Bill ayers?

    What of Iran-Contra?

The hairs you’re dying to split about Mrs. Palin may all be split equally for the Obamas, much more so since they were never involved with the Weathermen and had nothing to do with Bill Ayers’ 40-year old crimes.

Mrs’ Palin never had anything to do w/ the AIP. She said nice things to them. I too say God bless them. They stand for great things.

The truth is the Culture War crowd has been running a BS attack on Obama about Ayers and now it turns out Sarah Palin has been extremely hypocritical to do so.

How has Sarah been hypocritical? She’s not associated w/ terrorists and never been in their homes getting their endorsement. Has Obama?

Enjoy your evening. Tell Big Jolly and Hammie I say hi. Send a shout out for me to Big Joly on his email too.

If you don’t have the time or patience for this topic, why did you bring it up? That’s annoying.

    “I hate X!!!”

    “Why?”

“I don’t have the time or patience to explain.”

    wonderul.

    Take care yourself.
