You are right BigJ, and don’t forget Hillary Clinton helping Bill’s buddies who donated to his charity. It’s a hoot……… no one cares and the Republicans are silent.

Geithner failed to pay self-employment taxes for money he earned while working for the International Monetary Fund from 2001 to 2003, the transition official said. In 2006, the IRS notified him that he owed $14,847 in self-employment taxes and $2,383 in penalties from 2003 and 2004.

Transition officials discovered last fall that Geithner also had not paid the taxes in 2001 or 2002.

Hugh Hewitt noted tonight that Geithner did not own up to owing the 2001-2002 once the mistake was discovered in 2006.

Also, the average person does not get away with these errors.

    That’s a pretty big oopsie.

This person should be immediately approached and taken away in shackles and handcuffs and hauled off to a federal prison. If it were you or I, we would already have the IRS at our doorstep taking possession of all our assets and we would be in the back of a paddy wagon..

Life is not fair, especially if you are an ordinary citizen who obeys the laws. Why do these individuals continue to get away with breaking them? We paid $3,200 to the U.S. Treasury (for our income taxes for 2007) even before the deadline because we feared if we didn’t, it would not be good and this clown gets away with it for all those years.

I’ve lost count. How many of those cabinet posts went to blacks and how many went to ex-Clintonistas?

  11. slash on January 13th, 2009 at 11:19 pm

. . . and how many went to FELONS?

    Aw, well, who’s counting?

  12. sargevining on January 14th, 2009 at 7:33 am

This guy is going to be in charge of the IRS.

Not to nitpick, but shouldn’t the headline read “Treasure Nominee Forgets to Pay Taxes”? Or am I missing some subtle pun?

Remember, taxes are just for (us) little people.

Grif, it was a lame attempt at humor. I’m surprised it took so long for someone to notice.

Not a problem for the Obamanation appointee.

On the other hand if this had been a Republican appointee we would hear the democrats screaming about the culture of corruption.

Well, not as lame as me, who forgot to change the ‘e’ to a ‘y’ .

Only a racist would criticize Obama’s nominees. You should know that by now.

Usual hyperbole goes into high gear. I was reading that terrifying liberal rag, The Wall Street Journal, and they described his tax problem as a tax dispute that was not resolved in his favor, not some fraud, and I quote from the WSJ “as soon as the IRS brought the issue to his attention, he paid the taxes with interest.” Hardly some crook who needs to be guillotine, oh red meat partisans. My view is we are in a hell of an economic fix right now, and everyone getting into a tizzy over some nannygate is not exactly a good idea as we all watch our 401ks evaporate. The markets need stabilty, not some long drawn out fight over the same kind of crap I argue with the IRS about. Obama won the election, give the guy the team he wants and give him his shot at it, he can’t do any worse, that I sincerely believe. This is a really bad time for the kind of hyper-partisanship this country has been experiencing for the last 16 years. We need as break. if Republicans keep up the relentless attack politics and everything goes in the tank, well, you get into a mud fight…..

And to sarge, let me say, that if a man who thinks he is getting screwed on his taxes is in charge of the IRS, how is that a bad thing?

  19. whitetop on January 14th, 2009 at 5:39 pm

Obama said there is no reason why one little mistake should keep this crook from being confirmed.

Maybe BHO can get DMX out of Sheriff Joe’s pink prison for a job, maybe the Justice Dept.
