    But President Bush is COMPASSIONATE.

If you’re in the parade and wearing those big poofy dresses, you need to be able to crap in palatial splendor befitting your ensemble.

This is not an inauguration, it’s a coronation. Is there a bulletproof horse-drawn carriage around they can use? Maybe they can convert some FEMA trailers to floats and put the poofy dress wimmins on them.

  4. Robert 1 on January 14th, 2009 at 8:40 am

Leave it to the Hussein people to GAUDY it up the inauguration after Hussein got on TV and told the people we were going to have to make sacrifices during this economic downturn if we wanted to recover sooner. And when are they ever going to highlight Hussein’s “white” half instead of his “black”. After all it was his “white” half that raised him, it was his “black” half that bailed out on him. Next thing you know they will be talking about erecting monuments to Hussein before he ever does anything.

How about letting the KIDS of DC, i.e.Black children, get a decent education?

  7. Robert 1 on January 14th, 2009 at 10:05 am

With FEMA involved maybe they will screw this thing up, too. So if anything goes wrong, they can blame President Bush, AGAIN!!! Looks like the hard freeze will be the excuse for the low turnout. This gets the liberal media off the hook for all those big predictions of crowd size for the coronation, I mean, inauguration.

  8. vlou on January 14th, 2009 at 10:36 am

This confirms what we already know - President Bush (W) is a real jerk and not at all intelligent - glad he’s leaving the White House. We don’t need anymore of his stupidity.

  9. Ken Kelley on January 14th, 2009 at 10:40 am

What more is there to say?

    Well, there is this thought:
The coro-….er, inauguration of the Socialist, Comrade Obama IS a disaster, not to mention the installation of his Socialist cabinet/advisors. Namely, the forthcoming Climate Czar (and why is it we need one of those?) who is on record as being clearly Socialist. And then there is the over-eagerly willing incoming (in all senses of the word) Secretary of State who finds the issue of Global Warming (oops, “Climate Change”) to be a problem for national security.

But hey, let’s look at the bright side. This time at least, FEMA will not need to haul the 18-wheeler trailers to some distant airfield to dump the ice which was needed by hurricane victims.

Barack O’FEMA - the first president to be declared a disaster before he even takes office.

Ha! That’s good. So is Obama a natural disaster or naturally disastrous?

Her husband owns a lobbying firm that specializes in environmental issues as well.

And, just yesterday it was revealed that she’s on the board of a leading carbon offset company.

    Lessee -
    Socialist - check!
Major conflict of interest via husband’s business - check!
Involved in business that trades in sham “carbon offsets” - check!

    She’s perfect!

Reply to No. 8: Again, I tell you, if you thought Bush was bad consider the alternatives at the time. How would you like the country run by either Algore or John “The Frenchman” Kerry????

  15. Phil_M on January 14th, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Not only this, but also take a look at what the Feds are doing to the DC Metro Region just to accommodate this silly inaugural event.

They are shutting down every single bridge into the District of Columbia, and every single freeway into Arlington County, Virginia for the entire day. All traffic will be diverted onto the D.C. beltway and around the city. The only ways in and out are by public transit on buses and subways. This exclusion zone directly affects both of the city’s airports. One will become completely inaccessible by car because it sits inside the beltway, whereas the other is outside the beltway meaning you can’t get into the city by car from it.

To put this into perspective, imagine if they completely closed off I-10 and I-45 inbound at Beltway 8, then diverted everyone onto the toll road to get around Houston. Next imagine that they shut down all bridges over Buffalo and White Oak bayous to prevent the people who live on those sides of the bayous from crossing over into downtown. Then imagine that they announced the only way you could get into downtown is by riding Metrorail (if you are able to even get to it and lucky enough to find a spot at its parking facility). Also imagine that car routes to Hobby airport are shut down and the only way you could get to or from it is METRO bus, whereas Intercontinental is of no use to you if you’re going to Houston because it sits outside Beltway 8.

Cause that’s essentially what they are doing to Washington, D.C. in the name of Obama “security” next week.

It’s having the effect of literally shutting down most business and routine day-to-day activities for the entire city. Business that want nothing to do with the inaugural are forced to shut down for the day simply because their employees cannot get to work with all the Nazi-esque travel restrictions Obama’s inaugural committee has put in place.

Reply to No. 15: Besides what you have stated and the potential freeze, it is no wonder the projected attendance numbers are down. People, aka tourists, who have never been to D.C. will probably not know how to navigate all those restrictions and probably spend all that money and miss the whole coronation. Don’t you know the Dimwits will probably have it available on DVD for you to order if your dumb enough to pay. Why don’t they call it what it really is, a “CIRCUS”, with Hussein being one of the clowns.

Just how much does cost for one man to put his hand on the Bible (or not) raise his right hand and take an oath that is less than 1 minute long?

I see that you are one of the “vote for the lesser of two evils” people.
I don’t think the others could have done a lot worse, but it may have brought things to a head to where the voters finally kick all of them out of office.

  19. Darren10 on January 14th, 2009 at 1:03 pm

    Robert1 # 14;

Kerry would have been worse. By how much, I really don’t know. He would NOt have pulled out of Iraq as Obama will NOT. Kerry would have probably increased taxes, government spending (more than Bush…maybe), socialized part of American industry (not any more than under Bush), given rights to terrorists (no more than that what has happened under Bush via the Taco Supreme Court - there I only fault Bush for not arguing clearly in public and consistantly why that is not only bad but unconstitutional, thus the need for more Roberts and Alitos - and I predict that Obama will NOT carry out his Guantanamo bay closing, at least not anytime soon). So overall I’d say it would be slighty worse than we have now. and if kerry won then we’d have Srah Palin in the White House now.

Regardless, Bush is still an idiot.

Kinda like the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! :)

President George W. Bush, a man determined to ruin whatever is left of his conservative reputation

I don’t think George Bush is smart enough to smash an atom.

To the apologists above, because of Bush’s staggering incompetence, and his near-complete abandonment of conservative ideals, we will soon have someone in charge who will likely do much more damage than Kerry and Gore combined could have done. And on top of that, Bush has done more long-term damage to the Republican party than any good he ever did for it or its supporters. Any possibility for true conservatism in government may be gone thanks to this fool.

  22. Phil_M on January 14th, 2009 at 1:54 pm

There’s only one real difference between the Obama inaugural and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. With Obama, the throngs of hippies will be carrying most of the fleas.

the throngs of hippies will be carrying most of the fleas.

And the pigs are cleaner and smell better.

  24. Darren10 on January 14th, 2009 at 2:25 pm

I just wrote this in posts 63 & 64 in the Open comments thread following this thread of duscussion. I think it’s worth relinking here since it shows how Republicans can contrast themselves from the Democrats by simply be standing behind conservative principle and explaining how their ideas are better.

    Link.

  25. Robert 1 on January 14th, 2009 at 2:30 pm

Reply to No 18 & 19: When there were only two viable choices it goes down to “lesser of two evils”. With Kerry you DEFINITELY knew you were going to get a socialistic government but with Bush you didn’t know but left open the chance of getting a more conservative agenda albeit it didn’t turn out that way. And don’t forget if “The Frenchman” would have won we would be buddies with France and worst of all probably stuck with him for eight years. And think how the Supreme Court would have turned out. Just think how history would have turned out, NO Hussein but potentially an Edwards administration in 2012. Oh, how the gods of “Fate” make things turn out sometimes for barely the better.

As my name suggests, I was born in DC. Even a native has troubled navigating the roads because of how they were set up, let alone a tourist, and then with all the detours! Should be fun for some!

Good point on the Supreme Court. Definitely Bush’s best and most significant domestic accomplishment.

LOL, I did my internship in DC and YES, those roads are extremely complicated. I was told that they were constructed to confuse an invading army but that they only confuse residents and tourists.

Here’s an idea . The NAACP doesn’t want the ladies in plantation dresses sashaying down Pennsylvania avenue because it calls to mind slavery. So how ’bout a line of shiney new Mercedes Benzes, Toyotas and Hondas, all made with non-union low wage labor. And nobody will have to pull over and pee.

  30. Robert 1 on January 14th, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Reply to No. 29: Your posting is confusing. The complaint about the dresses has to do with being “PC” which in this case is not applicable because that is what they wore in those days—granted the blacks didn’t get to wear them. And attempting to erase history only dooms us to repeating it. Why not know it happened, good or bad, learn from it and get on with life. And as far as those cars go, some of them were built here in the USA with non-union COMPETITIVE wages that don’t drive up the price of a car to the point where nobody will buy them. That is one of the reasons the auto industry is in the position they are in now.

Bush has done more long-term damage to the Republican party than any good he ever did for it or its supporters.

The Repubilcan party did as much damage as Bush could ever do. The idiots in charge of the party and many elected republicans decided they would be more popular if they acted like dhimmicrats. Surprise. They just ended up pi$$ing off their base.

Instead of making all those debataunts try to squeeze into the portapotties in those big dresses just have hundreds of the canopees that every farm house had back in the days of the little house out back with a path. These cans were used for night time relief. It will give the little ladies a real feel for what life was like back then. Cheap way to fertilize the White House lawn.

Heard on Rush today the total bill for the coronation may run as high as $100 mil. Chump change when the Monarch is planning on an annual deficit of 1 trillion.

Achievement #3 was Cheney refusing to give Waxman the names of energy people he met with. For some reason the dhimmicrats and MSM didn’t think it was necessary Hillary identify the people on her socialized medicine task force, which she really had no authority to chair. Double standards.

I heard a rumor, maybe on the local news, that THREE buses were chartered from the Port Arthur area to go to the Coronation. Da Peoples is gonna be there . . . if things go badly, expect a lot of looting and floating about.

I think I’ll just DVR the whole thing, and watch it later. Or maybe wait for the movie to come to DVD and pick that up at Wallyworld at the checkout lane.
